In short
- No cookies, no tracking, no analytics or advertising services.
- Fonts and images are served from my own server. Visiting the site sends no data to third parties such as Google.
- The connection is encrypted with HTTPS.
- I only use data from the contact form to answer your enquiry.
Hosting and server log files
The website runs on a server at Hetzner Online GmbH, Germany. With every request, the web server automatically stores:
- the IP address of the requesting device
- date and time of the request
- the page or file requested, the HTTP status code and the amount of data transferred
- the previously visited page (referrer), if your browser sends it
- browser and operating system (user agent)
I need this data to run the website securely, find errors and fend off attacks. I also analyse it on my own server to produce simple access statistics. IP addresses are shortened beforehand; the statistics contain only aggregated figures and are not passed on to third parties. The legal basis is my legitimate interest in secure and stable operation (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). The log files are deleted automatically after 14 days.
Contact form
When you write to me via the form, I process your name, email address, message and, if provided, your phone number. The details are delivered as an email via my mail server to my mailbox and used only to handle your enquiry.
The legal basis is taking steps prior to entering into a contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) if your enquiry concerns a possible project, otherwise my legitimate interest in answering it (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Providing the details is voluntary, but without a name and email address I cannot reply.
I delete the enquiry once it has been dealt with. If it leads to an engagement, I keep the business correspondence for as long as the law requires (usually seven years under § 132 of the Austrian Federal Fiscal Code, BAO).
To prevent abuse, your IP address is stored in a non-reversible form (salted hash) for at most one hour when you submit the form, to block more than five messages per hour from the same connection (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Your rights
You have the right to access, rectification, erasure and restriction of processing of your data, to data portability, and to object to processing based on legitimate interests (Art. 15 to 21 GDPR). Just write to me at the address above.
If you believe that the processing of your data violates data protection law, you can lodge a complaint with the Austrian Data Protection Authority: Barichgasse 40–42, 1030 Vienna, dsb.gv.at.
